The ultimate hot hatch, just got more powerful

Focus RS500

Focus RS500

Ford is full of surprises. After launching the RS version of Focus, which was claimed to be the best hot hatch on the market, they go further. Focus RS is still the most powerful compact car and best handling FWD car on the roads… ever, and that just wasn’t enough. They decided to make something more extreme (than 300 HP on FWD?).

A new limited version of RS500 is about to be released! For ma as a RS biggest fan, this is jus “WOW!” I wonder what will the tuners do when they get their hands on this toy :) What is the HP limit in this class? Just “WOW!” Read more…

Toybaru Sports Coupe 2012

Toybaru Sports Coupe 2012

“Road & Track” site just reported: that we have a awaited for some time confirmation of the project “Toybaru” Sports Coupe car. Apart from information posted here at CarsoBlog.com few days ago, they suspect that the engine will be 2.0 litre boxer (not 1.5 as I wrote).

There is some controversy about Subaru, if they should abandon their “4wd image”. But in my opinion as the car will be done with Toyota, they can’t give them too much of their technology:) As Toyota will be responsible for styling (as they don’t have the skills to do a good sports car by themselves recently) Subaru will kick in there with rear wheel drive. Maybe to keep the car cheaper?

Also the good news is that they claim that the car will be sold with both Subaru and Toyota badges, as a very similar models.

Stay put for more news to come..

Ford Focus RS 2009 – how did they do it?

June 4th, 2009 Jim 1 comment

Focus RSFord was dangerously quiet recently. Nothing big was happening around the brand. They released new Fiesta, new Ka… but nothing spectacular. All these cars were cool, but not to sensational. They didn’t put some hybrid, supergreen, eco fafarafa, “tree hugging” drive system… Just a whole set of boring, every day cars in many segments. I was starting to think, that they are turning into Toyota or something :)

I like Ford for that… it’s not trying hard to be something what marketing advisers will invent. Just a pure, solid brand with tradition. I drive a Focus myself and it does the job. It’s not a super hot hatch, interior is very classic. But it works ok for me, it’s reliable. It’s not a 100% fun car, but the driving experience is very sharp and positive.

Ken Block Gymkhana “2″ – premiere

June 3rd, 2009 Jim No comments

Ken Block may not be the most titled driver in the world. But for sure is becoming more and more known and recognized. You can’t deny that he knows how to “sell” himself to the audience. First version of Gymkhana practice, was a big online success (You can watch the video at the end of the post).

Now he went further, and just released the second part. It is more of a show than actual “practice” drive, but still there is a lot to cheer the eyes! Great shots with the slow motion camera!

I don’t really like the paint gun idea (it doesn’t make much sense, it’s copied from Top Gear… but it’s just bugging from my side ). On the whole the slow motion stunts are very effective. The scene with fire in slowmo… amazing.

As usual, the only car choice possible: Subaru Impreza STI :) You can check out Crawford Performance at work building the car in next movie…

2010 Toyota Celica (Toybaru)

2010 Toyota Celica (Toybaru)

It seems like the cooperation of Toyota and Subaru still leaves a lot of question marks around the web. When they officially announced the concept of building a sports car together (around 2006-2007) – internet users immediately gave the project a name: Toybaru.

I spent few hours searching for info about this project, and found nothing but rumours and not confirmed information. There are no official prototype or sketches to see (if google doesn’t have them – they don’t exist! :) )

Toyota Supra tribute

May 25th, 2009 Jim 2 comments

To be fair with Toyota, I need to mention the Supra model. As a Toyota anti fan, I have to admit that some time ago they actually made a good car (and not only this one)! And as blog cannot be only “against”, I decided to write few “pro” words about this great car.

What is a good car?

For me: car that represents something – has the “xfactor”. Is a niche, a good a value for money etc. Shows the capability of a producer to make a fun car, and not be overwhelmed by the accountants that will try to cancel the project.

Supra had these values. I want to focus especially on Supra Mark IV.
