Good commercials, but a boring car
Below You will find new VW Polo commercials.
Considering their content, they are pretty nice to watch. In both cases VW is showing groups of young people. Talking about new way of living, style, mentioning ecology… Or showing the car to work like chick magnet 
Why do I post them here? What makes them worth mentioning along 500 other commercials. These 2 don’t fit the car at all. This is a VW – what means: it’s boring as watching polish soccer team play.
All VW (besides Blue Sport Roadster) look like they were designed by some old guy that have lost the meaning of life.VW design makes me fall asleep just by looking at it. And in this particular case – Polo: it’s hard to tell whether You look at some lifted Scirocco or VW Gold VI mini version.
Of course like all Volkswagens – Polo is well built, has the technology in it. Probably handles better than Citroen or Fiat. Has smarter system for folding the seats, or bigger trunk than Renault or Honda models, or more user friendly stereo than Mazda. Is good at absolutely everything it should be, in it’s class. And that fact makes it… even more boring. It doesn’t has the edge in any category.
I mean – look at new Renault Megane Coupe – the commercial speaks the same language. The target buyer is the same.
Try to load something large in the trunk of Renault. It will be difficult as You will need to lift it very high. Take a seat in the back – hardly any light gets there through these 2 small side windows. But this is what it cost, to make the car look so good. Renault built a great looking coupe. VW just doesn’t have the guts to sacrifice practicality – for the looks, therefore it doesn’t deserve to mention style and “way of life” on tv. And that prevents these 2 commercials from speaking to me (as a still pretty young potential buyer 
).
Good ads but, for a boring car…
So what they should have done… is to refer to VW build quality, engine ecology, fuel economy etc… Some facts that are typically “Volkswagenish” – like they did in this banned commercial (some older Polo: build quality):
