Is VW killing Porsche?
In modern motoring world, what was very unlikely to happen 2 years ago, now is becoming reality. As all car makers race to release as many electric/hybrid vehicles in the shortest period of time, you could feel this coming.
Porsche… brand that had only 1 model in production for the most of it’s existence time, stubbornly putting the engine in the wrong place of the car… at the same time proud brand, famous of it’s history, consistency, heritage, sport image… is testing a new model equipped with 2.0 liter engine. Ford Focus RS in performance blue
Ford Focus RS is a pretty strong and fast car. It has over 300 HP and torque reaching 440 Nm (324 lb/ft). Not bad for a hatchback. You would assume that this is more than enough for a front wheel drive and a 2.5 liter engine. Tuners were not satisfied though… Graham Goode Racing prepared a performance solution that raises the maximum horsepower of the RS to 340, and torque to almost 540 Nm (398 lb/ft)! And the changes that were made to achieve that, were pretty simple. They reprogrammed the engine electronics using “Superchips” chip. There were no mechanical changes or body work done…

43 tons of water versus car
Below You will find what water… lots of it, does with a car. Personally I’m kind of surprised with the effect of this “drop”. I wasn’t expecting this amount of damage… from the same liquid that hit’s the roof of every car when it rains

1/ Who and Why does this kind of testing
2/ Thank God, that when it rains the drops are little smaller
See the video below…

As far as I don’t really like to publish purely technical content – as this blog should be about fun cars and performance, not some boring engineering stuff, not mentioning green propaganda. The topic described above might be a quite a milestone in the motoring world. Besides the “green” background, it also has one interesting aspect: 150 HP from a liter capacity. Enjoy! Read more…

Honda Civic Type R - looking good, but...
I always liked cars made by Honda… Since I was a teenager. I respected the brand, considered myself as a fan… When I started studies, I wanted a Civic… A used one of course. Back then there was only Subaru and Honda for me. Two brands that had the edge I was looking for, being at the same time down to earth. In 1999 I became a proud owner of a 1991 Honda Civic. 1.4 liter, 90 HP. Perfect car choice for a student being on a budget (mpg was really good). Absolutely no equipment inside – made the car superlight, what gave it pretty good performance. That was then…

Mazda 2: step in the right direction
Just watched this video (found it HERE originally). And I really liked what I saw… The topic is worth mentioning as the continuation of the thought stated in some previous post: Old vs New – are the cars getting better?. Video below, made by the Fifth Gear team is showing in a pretty straightforward way what weight does with the car. Especially a small one… It’s a about doing the right thing by a car maker… finally.
