Renault Megane Coupe 2009

Soon we will say goodbye...

Patient: 2009 Renault Megane Coupe TCE 180
Distance travelled:55 000 km
Age: 30 months
Status: still good as new (almost)…

I wanted to write more often. But there is hardly anything to write about. The car is doing completely fine… Faults? None. I’ ve been to the 60k km service (went there earlier as the first service was made after 23k km – not 30k as recommended). No problems were found, only regular check list.

Subaru… they shouldn’t make a good looking car!

Subaru XV

Subaru XV - It's ugly and lets hope it will stay this way!

I remember some time ago, I was thinking “Why Subaru won’t hire some famous car designer (like Kia did), to prepare some cool range of models for the following generation? Every brand needs good looking cars. We live in “designer” times, when You buy with your eyes mostly. You don’t read brochures and (unfortunately) listen to marketing… A fraction of buyers thinks otherwise and You can’t build a worldwide success on a fraction”. And so on…

But when I recently saw the Subaru XV on the street, it appeared to me… Not only Subaru won’t improve their looks, they simply shouldn’t do it!

Enter the Dragon – a story how I bought a 90′s BMW luxury sedan

The Dragon (sorry for the quality - but it's a photo, taken with my phone the night I bought the car)

It’s been a while since my last posting. Busy times… lot of thoughts. In the last few months my attitude to motoring changed significantly. I don’t know why… Maybe it’s that I’m getting older, maybe it’s the fuel prices (probably not, but let say it is), maybe it’s a natural course of things… I don’t know. Here’s what happened… And it will be a long story.
First thing…  I’m not so much of a hatchback freak any more. Some time ago, I recognized this segment as a “golden mean”. Hatchback is just enough spacious, but not too big for city driving and not too jumpy for highway cruising, it has a trunk big enough for 3 people’s luggage, it can give You some fun behind the wheel, but at the same time it won’t ruin your budget. It’s obvious truth.

GT86 on sale in Europe: June 2012! Toyota failed… Again…

Toyota GT86, Toybaru

Toyota GT86

They did it again… The roumours about Toybaru or “Celica/Supra” return were pretty hot. Some hints were released from time to time. I was eagerly anticipating what happens in this project. They had it all figured out pretty nice. Cooperation with Subaru, oldfashioned 2.0l boxer engine, RWD, coupe looks of FT-86 concept. Promising!

And we waited… Personally I was REALLY hoping that their motoring feel will somehow turn, and they will get more interesting and make use of the technological potential they have. But no… They did it again. Read more…

BMW M3 GTS and BMW M3 Frozen Black Photoshoot

Here’s a little something for You. Carsoblog proudly presents…

Well… Maybe it’s not exactly what this blog is about, but I have to make an exception and post these. My dear friend quite a few days ago published his most recent work. I’ve seen some car pics, some better, some not so good and still published in recognized car magazines and posters… And the photos You’re about to see here today are absolutely amazing!

I could write more about the quality of the work TOMiRRi Photography did, but this is not a photo blog.  Just see for Yourself…

Great VW Passat commercial

February 4th, 2011 Comments off

I just saw this ad on some car enthusiasts bulletin board. It’s really entertaining – enjoy!

IMHO this is the right way to show a VW. Every other attempt when they tried to be somewhat controversial, or refer to style (like this VW Polo ad), was a little too much for them. In this case – it’s about an average car – but in new version.

PS. In my opinion the reason why the force didn’t work for the kid was that he didn’t use the gloves! But I cant prove that :)

Honda CR-Z Type R!? Sounds good?

Honda CR-Z Type R

Honda CR-Z Type R

Honda used to be one of my favorite brands… let’s say in 90′s, when I was a student dreaming  about some tuned Civic with at least 100 bhp. Affordable and sporty – that was their thing. Revving CRX – producing 100 hp per liter of engine capacity! Recently they got a little “slow”… CR-Z didn’t get much reviews in favor of the car. I also had a chance to check what it’s worth and HERE is a little review from my side… Read more…

New Toyota Supra – no longer 2011… 2013?

October 8th, 2010 3 comments

Maybe 2013...

It’s time to get back to the topic. What’s going on with Supra? Another rumors are around the press. New launch date would be 2013. Postponed again. And again for 2 years. I don’t know if they got scared of the sport topic? By massive failure as Lexus LFA is? Toyota keeps all the fans in suspense. The first date and concept pictures of new Supra were saying: 2009. Then they made a little mess with FT-HS (aka Toybaru) model. I was hoping that Toyota will get back to serious motoring. Having both FT-HS and Supra would be amazing. Like the old days: Celica and Supra. Read more…
